The Yorkville Nutcracker Comes to The Kaye Playhouse

Dances Patrelle's The Yorkville Nutcracker recently presented its 23rd installment of the holiday show at Hunter's College's The Kaye Playhouse in New York City. Christmas spirit was at an all-time high as the classic ballet captivated the audience with its talented dancers, both young and old.

The story revolves around a young girl, Mary Strong (Claire Smith and Kylie Williams) who receives a Yellowstone Kelly-inspired nutcracker from her Uncle Noah (Owen Taylor). The nutcracker later comes to life and the two go on a journey to The New York Botanical Gardens where they meet the likes of the Snow Queen (Therese Wendler) and Snow King (Maximilien Baud), their son, the Snow Prince (Fineas Duggan and Luca Ayana), along with ice skaters with lanterns and small deer that head a white sleigh.

We also get to see the Sugar Plum Fairy (Abi Stafford) in her pink tutu that sparkled and Cavalier (Ask la Cour) who danced beside her but also performed his own impressive solo routine for the Nutcracker and Mary to enjoy.

A show of tradition, fantasy, and family, The Yorkville Nutcracker is one for all ages, and Dances Patrelle did not disappoint.
