My life is as crazy as ever. Just because it is the summer does not mean that it is any less busy than the school year. I interned at Sportody.com this summer, I have to write an Extended Essay for the IB program, I have to get Inbound Certified for my fall internship, I just started my own blog, koffeekisses.com. I have schoolwork. And I haven't even thought about preparing for the District Festival for Thespians this fall.

Through all of my work, my crazy busy schedule, my ever-growing To Do list, I have to make time for the arts. I love performing, sewing, designing, planning. I love the rush of presenting a piece to the world and hearing their feedback, the good and the bad. We all need to remember to take time in our schedules and be present with ourselves, be present in the theater, or even out of it. Performing, sewing, any time of expression of us, is vital to helping us grow as human beings and become well rounded.

I say this to you all now: the arts are for more than just fun. Yes, participating in the arts is fun, but it is more rewarding than that. It is something that can grow us, as well-rounded people, not just as actors or performers. The arts help to give us a new perspective in life. The arts can introduce us to new places, people, topics; it can help us understand the meaning behind emotion, feelings, and actions.

So taking time off of work, school, staring at a screen for hours on end, watching Netflix, whatever it is. The arts can help you break through as a person; grow as a performer and as a human being. Don't let yourself forget about the arts- take time, make the effort, and try to make time for the arts.
