B-Boy Drag Kings Dazza and Keif Go Viral at Adelaide Fringe

Award-winning drag act "Dazza and Keif Go Viral" is coming to Adelaide Fringe Festival from 2-8 March 2019, at The National Wine Centre.

Comedy duo Danni Ray and Keely Windred star as Dazza and Keif, two self-proclaimed B-boyz from Melbourne's northern suburbs trying to make it big on Youtube. The problem is that their only followers are Dazza's Mum and the account Keif set up for his cat. When an embarrassing viral video thrusts them into the spotlight for the wrong reasons, Dazza and Keif find themselves confronting identity crisis, feminist theory and queer politics. "Dazza and Keif Go Viral" is a high-energy dance comedy that follows the boys' pursuit of internet fame and accidental 'awokening'.

With the gender-bending antics that earned them first place in So You Think You Can Drag 2018, Ray and Windred present a twist on the traditional drag formula by foregoing lipstick and eyeshadow for wraparound sunnies and reflective tracksuits

"We wanted to explore gender roles and expectations within the unique brand of Australian masculinity - where blokiness meets bromance," said Ray.

"We thought if we started dressing as straight white men people would start listening to us - and it worked!"

Both Windred and Ray are well-versed in the Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe scenes but this is their first show as a duo. Windred is best-known for her work with 80s dance group The Real Hot B*tches and Ray for her starring role in 'Can't Be Tamed', a queer retelling of the Miley Cyrus mythology.

Windred and Ray are joined by award-winning producer Tom Backhaus (CULL) along with writer and dramaturg Keziah Warner (Her Father's Daughter).
